Head Wraps: They’re Coming…
Spring racing this year has been dominated – and I mean dominated – by tiara-style fascinators and head jewellery. You can’t swing a cat at Randwick without hitting a chain in a mane at the moment. Which I altogether don’t mind, even though I’m really more of a hat gal. And I can’t say I always find fascinators overly, you know… fascinating. But I think the headwear gurus really took it up a notch this year.
Take this collection by Summerblossom, for example. It’s sweet and breezy and I can picture wearing one of these glorious numbers to a summer picnic in the park. You know, as you do.
But I have a feeling 2015 will be the year of the head wrap. Think Solange Knowles and you’re picking up what I’m putting down.
There are three main reasons for this… One: they’re awesome. Two: it’s totally their time to shine. And three: I really want them to be, so I’m just putting it out there.
I mean, come on – look at them! They’re so dramatic and glorious and elegant. I want to wear one and channel Bianca Jagger and drink rosé.
These aren’t just haphazardly placed scarves, though. These are more milliner-style, highly orchestrated masterpieces. They’re the kind of thing epic editorials are made of. And I, for one, will definitely be rocking one come Autumn racing season. I even love the idea of getting one coordinated with a jumpsuit or two-piece set. Oh, the matchy-matchiness of it all!
If you feel like getting on the bandwagon, Etsy shop Wraps N Things make some pretty ace ones. And if you need some help learning how to tie one, Locks & Trinkets do an easy-to-follow tutorial. If we see each other round the track, we can wink at each other in knowing harmony. It’ll be like a masonic handshake, only chicer.
See you at the races!
